US, British ambassadors work to install Qasim Dawud as new puppet “Prime Minister” on behalf of “United Iraqi Alliance” Shi‘i sectarian party.

Media sources in Baghdad on Wednesday reported a source close to the Shi‘i coalition party that dominates the American-installed puppet “Parliament” of occupied Iraq has disclosed that the ambassadors of the US and Britain have been holding consultations with various collaborationist politicians as they try to maneuver Qasim Dawud into the post of puppet “Prime Minister” of Iraq to succeed the widely discredited Ibrahim al-Ja‘fari.

Quds Press reported the sources as saying that US ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad, British Ambassador William Patey, Qasim Dawud of the Shi‘i “United Iraqi Alliance” party and Salih Mutlak, the head of the so-called “National Dialogue Front” had been holding consultations concerning the importance of appointing Dawud as “Prime Minister” on behalf of the “United Alliance” party.

The source, who asked not to be identified, declined to give any further details but indicated that the secret conferences had been held in Qasim Dawud’s home which is located in the high-security restricted area around the Republican Palace in Baghdad – an area dubbed the “Green Zone” by the Americans.

Qasim Dawud himself declined to confirm or deny the report, telling the press, “there can be no announcement to the media on this matter for three days,” Quds Press reported.

Current puppet “PrimeMinister” Ibrahim al-Ja‘fari was also associated with the Shi‘i United Iraqi Alliance, which was widely regarded as the group of candidates and parties endorsed by Shi‘i cleric Ayatallah ‘Ali as-Sistani.  But al-Ja‘fari’s term in office has been marked by a significant upsurge in abductions and murders by pro-American Shi‘i sectarian groups on such a scale that it has aroused press coverage and adverse comments by the US ambassador.  The American occupation regime is therefore known to be seeking a new puppet “Prime Minister” not yet tainted with a reputation as head of a regime involved in mass sectarian torture and murder.

An Iraqi political source told Quds Press that the US administration and the British are working to pressure Iraqi politicians into declaring a new puppet “Prime Minister” within three days. To that end, the American ambassador in Baghdad has been meeting with collaborator politicians, even second-tier political figures, in an effort to throw together a new puppet cabinet so as to form a new puppet “government” to Washington’s liking as quickly as possible.

Consultations to form a new puppet “government” began after US-run “elections” were held under US occupation two months ago.  Since that time, the motley sectarian and separatist parties and politicians, whose only common denominator is support for the US occupation, have been unable to agree on a new cabinet.

US admits five American troops killed in three days.
