Fighters blow up Baghdad home of woman MP from ruling coalition.

 

In a dispatch posted at 12:51pm Baghdad time Thursday afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported that armed men blew up the home of Shadha al-Musawi, a woman deputy to the US-backed Iraqi parliament on Thursday.  Al-Musawi represents the ruling pro-American Shi‘i sectarian coalition known as the United Iraqi Alliance, headed by Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki.

 

Yaqen reported a witness as saying that the armed men blew up the house in the al-‘Adl neighborhood of Baghdad, despite the presence of a government roadblock just 100 meters away

US forces raid home of tribal leader, arrest family, residents report.

 

In a dispatch posted at 10am Baghdad time Thursday morning, the Yaqen News Agency reported that US occupation troops arrested the family of Shaykh ‘Ulaywi Husayn as-Sa‘di, a chief of the Bani Sa ‘d tribe in the province of Babil, south of Baghdad, before dawn Thursday.

 

Yaqen reported a witness who asked not to be identified as saying that the family was arrested at their home in the al-‘Ummal neighborhood in the Jablah area south of Baghdad.  US forces mounted an airborne landing on the home of the shaykh.  They broke down the doors and arrested all the members of his family, including a seven-year-old boy named Ahmad, the witness said.  The Americans also broke up possessions in the home and beat up women in the family, the source said, prior to arresting everyone, including two boys, Ra’id ‘Ulaywi Husayn and his brother Khalid.  As of the time of reporting, no information on the reason for the raid was available.

In a dispatch posted at 10:12pm Baghdad time Thursday night, the Yaqen News Agency reported that armed men killed one policeman and one civilian in two separate incidents in al-Mawsil, 420km northwest of Baghdad on Thursday.

 

Yaqen reported a source in the Ninwa Province police as saying that an off-duty policeman was sitting in a coffee house in the al-Jaza’ir neighborhood when gunmen shot him dead.

 

In a separate incident, gunmen stormed into a recreation hall in the as-Sukkar neighborhood of northern al-Mawsil and killed an employee there.  No more details in the incidents were available.

In a dispatch posted at 3:40pm Baghdad time Thursday afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported that armed clashes took place between gunmen and Iraqi government police in the Bab Sinjar area of western al-Mawsil on Thursday.

 

Yaqen reported a source in the police as saying that gunmen in two cars clashed with policemen at a checkpoint near the ar-Rimah Bank in Bab Sinjar on Thursday.  The battle left two gunmen and one policeman dead.  A second policeman was wounded in the encounter and taken to a hospital for treatment.

 

Since 10 May, US and Iraqi regime forces have been waging an offensive against the al-Qa‘idah organization in al-Mawsil and surrounding Ninwa Province.

In continued preparations for American attack on Iran, Iraqi regime police arrest two anti-occupation Jaysh al-Mahdi militiamen in raids, searches in al-Kut.

 

In a dispatch posted at 11:50am Baghdad time Thursday morning, the Yaqen News Agency reported that the Iraqi regime police arrested two members of the anti-occupation Jaysh al-Mahdi militia in two operations in the city of al-Kut, 180km southeast of Baghdad.

 

Yaqen reported Captain ‘Aziz Latif al-Imarah, commander of the regime’s provincial Tiger Forces, as saying that his forces had carried out raids and searches in the ash-Shuhada’ neighborhood in eastern al-Kut.  There one member of the Jaysh al-Mahdi was arrested with explosives in his possession.

 

Captain al-Imarah said that other searches in the Badrah area also in eastern al-Kut was where the second member of the Jaysh al-Mahdi was arrested, a man “accused” of carrying out armed attacks on US-backed Iraqi regime troops.  He was found with 16 mortar shells and eight Iranian made bombs in his possession, in addition to a pistol, a Kalashnikov assault rifle, and ammunition.

 

Since March, the US-backed Iraqi regime has been actively engaged in an offensive against the anti-occupation Sadr Movement and its armed wing, the Jaysh al-Mahdi militia, in Iraq, in what is believed to be preparation for an American attack on Iran.

Iraqi government police find downed American spy plane.

 

In a dispatch posted at 4:45pm Baghdad time Thursday afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported that Iraqi government police of Dhi Qar Province found a unmanned reconnaissance plane in the Umm ‘Unayj area 80km south of an-Nasirah (which is 320km south of Baghdad).

 

Yaqen reported a source in the Dhi Qar Police as saying that efforts were being made to contact the US forces to see why the aircraft had apparently crashed.

In continued preparations for American attack on Iran, Iraqi regime police arrest six anti-occupation Jaysh al-Mahdi militiamen in raids, searches in al-Basrah.

 

In a dispatch posted at 9:10pm Baghdad time Thursday night, the Yaqen News Agency reported that Iraqi government police arrested six members of the anti-occupation Jaysh al-Mahdi militia in various parts of al-Basrah on Thursday.

 

Yaqen reported a source in the al-Basrah Province police as saying that in the course of their raids, the police also confiscated thirty-five heavy 120mm mortar shells of Iranian manufacture in the Shatt al-‘Arab area to the east of al-Basrah city.

 

Since March, the US-backed Iraqi regime has been actively engaged in an offensive against the anti-occupation Sadr Movement and its armed wing, the Jaysh al-Mahdi militia, in Iraq, in what is believed to be preparation for an American attack on Iran.

 

Katyusha rockets blast into British base in al-Basrah early Thursday.

 

In a dispatch posted at 6:45pm Baghdad time Thursday afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported that the British base at al-Basrah International Airport came under a Katyusha rocket barrage at dawn on Thursday.

 

Yaqen reported a spokesman for the British forces as saying that the attack caused no damage or casualties.  There are 4,100 British troops officially based at al-Basrah International Airport.
