Bomb explodes by US patrol near al-Fallujah Sunday.
In a dispatch posted at 6:43pm Baghdad time Sunday afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported that a bomb planted by the side of the main road in the ‘Amiriyat al-Fallujah area, 20km south of al-Fallujah (which is 60km west of Baghdad) blew up by a US patrol on Sunday.
Yaqen reported witnesses as saying that the blast damaged an American amphibian vehicle that burned for 45 minutes. The sources said that American helicopters flew in to protect the area from attack until the flames in the amphibious vehicle could be extinguished. No evidence that any casualties had resulted from the attack was reported.

Grenade attack, bomb explosion wound six in Baghdad.
In a dispatch posted at 12:07pm Baghdad time midday Sunday, the Yaqen News Agency reported that six people were wounded, three of the Iraqi regime soldiers, in two attacks in northern and eastern Baghdad
Yaqen reported a source in the police as saying that gunmen threw a hand grenade in front of the Hammurabi Company in the Camp Sarah area of eastern Baghdad, wounding three people. Meanwhile, a bomb went off by an Iraqi army patrol in the Jukuk area of the north Baghdad district of al-Kazimiyah, wounding three troops.
Two mortar shells target “Green Zone” Sunday morning.
In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 4:49pm Sunday afternoon Beijing time (11:49am in Baghdad), the Xinhua News Agency reported that two mortar shells were fired at the high-security zone around the Republican Palace in Baghdad – the area known to the Americans as “the Green Zone” before noon on Sunday.
Xinhua reported a source in the Iraqi government police as saying that no information on the nature or extent of casualties as a result of the two explosions – if there were any – was unknown.
Bomb wounds Iraqi army troops in eastern Baghdad Sunday morning.
In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 4:49pm Sunday afternoon Beijing time (11:49am in Baghdad), the Xinhua News Agency reported that a bomb had exploded by an Iraqi army patrol near the Passport Office in the east Baghdad district of Zuyunah at about 8am local time Sunday morning.
Xinhua reported a source in the Iraqi government police as saying that the blast wounded two of the Iraqi troops on the patrol and damaged a patrol vehicle. Xinhua reported that eyewitnesses, however, believed that the casualty toll in the attack had in fact been higher. The witnesses noted that security forces immediately closed off the area where clouds of smoke were rising and that ambulances raced to the area.
Three people killed in bomb explosion in eastern Baghdad Sunday morning.
In a dispatch posted at 11:40am Baghdad time Sunday morning, the Yaqen News Agency reported that a bomb exploded in the eastern Baghdad district of al-Kamaliyah on Sunday morning.
Yaqen reported a source in the police as saying that the blast killed three people and wounded 10 more in addition to inflicting damage on shops and cars parked in the area.

In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 3:56pm Sunday afternoon Beijing time (10:56am in Baghdad), the Xinhua News Agency reported that the US military had announced the death of one of its troops and the wounding of two others in a bomb explosion in Baghdad.
Xinhua reported a US communiqué as saying that a bomb exploded by an American patrol in Baghdad at about 9:30pm on Friday, 8 August, killing one US soldier and wounding two more of them. The wounded men were evacuated to a SU military hospital nearby.
With the death of this soldier on Friday, the death toll for US forces in Iraq in August came to three killed in combat and seven in non-combat accidents.
Diyala Province. Buhriz.
Ten more arrested in continuing security operations in Diyala Province Sunday.
In a dispatch posted at 8:41pm Baghdad time Sunday night, the Yaqen News Agency reported that Major General Muhammad al-‘Askari, the Information Councilor at the Ministry of Defense, had announced that security forces had arrested 10 more people in Buhriz, 60km northeast of Baghdad in Diyala Province on Sunday.
Yaqen reported al-‘Askari as saying that the arrests were part of the security operation against al-Qa‘idah launched in Diyala Province on Tuesday 29 July.
Al-Mada’in.
Car bomb explodes by Iraqi security column in al-Mada’in, killing soldier Sunday.
In a dispatch posted at 5pm Baghdad time Sunday afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported that a car bomb exploded by an Iraqi Interior Ministry military column on a street in al-Mada’in, 25km southeast of Baghdad on Sunday.
Yaqen reported a spokesman for the Baghdad Operations Command as saying that the blast killed on Iraqi soldier and wounded a second.
As-Sa‘diyah.
Gunmen kill policeman in as-Sa‘diyah Sunday.
In a dispatch posted at 1:48pm Baghdad time Sunday afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported that gunmen shot and killed an Iraqi policeman in as-Sa‘diyah, 115km northeast of Baghdad on Sunday.
Yaqen reported an official in Diyala Province as saying that gunmen shot the policeman as he was on his way to work in as-Sa‘diyah, killing him on the spot.
Since Tuesday 29 July, the US-backed Iraqi regime has been carrying out an operation against al-Qa‘idah in Diyala Province.
Khanaqin.
Car bomber blasts Kurdish separatist police in Khanaqin Sunday morning.
In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 6:45pm Sunday afternoon Beijing time (1:45pm in Baghdad), the Xinhua News Agency reported that a car bomber blasted into a checkpoint manned by Kurdish separatist Asayish police near a local administration building in Khanaqin, 120km northeast of Baghdad, before noon Sunday.
Xinhua reported a source in the police as saying that three members of the Kurdish-separatist Asayish police were killed in the blast and more than 20 other people were wounded, among them women and children, according to preliminary figures.
Since 10 May, the US and its Iraqi regime allies have been waging an offensive against the al-Qa‘idah organization, known for its suicide attacks, in al-Mawsil and surrounding Ninwa Province.

Bomb explosion by US column in al-‘Amarah causes no casualties.
In a dispatch posted at 4:25pm Baghdad time Sunday afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported that a bomb exploded by a US column near a bridge in the middle of al-‘Amarah, 290km southeast of Baghdad.
Yaqen reported a source in the Maysan Provincial government as saying that the bomb exploded as the American column was crossing the Yugoslavian Bridge in al-‘Amarah but that the blast caused no casualties.
