The communiqués indicated the following:
Epics of Mujahideen in the Field of Honor:
More than 160 US soldiers died in Mosul attack: The American military base in Mosul “Alghazlani camp” was heavily bombed by a large bomb-loaded truck. This morning, one of the mujahideen managed to drive into the base to carry out the attack which killed roughly 160 US soldiers and mercenaries. According to eye-witnesses, the fedayee who dressed an Iraqi police uniform, drove a Mercedes Benz truck carrying 12 tons of explosives and succeeded in going through the two barrier and in approaching a canteen where the US soldiers were having their breakfast. The building was attached to a recreational center with internet facilities, telephone communications and express postal service section known as the officers’ lobby. Some of the Iraqis and Lebanese translators said that at least 160 soldiers were inside the canteen, not including those who were inside the recreational center. Also, the canteen was attached to a large hall where the US soldiers had chats with one another during the evening and where they were accustomed to write letters to their families without wearing their bullet-proof clothes which had resulted in the killing of so many of them. An eye-witnesses reported that the truck-driver was driving at a speed of approximately 120 km/h, and broke through the front part of the canteen, then detonated the explosives inside the canteen, and the place was transformed into a ball of flames and was utterly destroyed. They added that the severity of the explosion scattered some of soldiers’ bodies parts to a distance more than 400 m away. American bulldozers worked for 6 hours non-stop in an effort to fetch the bodies under the debris. They indicated that a helicopter type “Shinnock” was flying over the area for approximately 2 hours carrying the dead and wounded. An eye-witness who is an Iraqi officer described the scene as an explosion of a small nuclear bomb. The redemptive resistance claimed responsibility for the operation and declared that the person who carried out the attack was a young man of 24 who had been married for a month. Observers indicated that this typical redemptive operation stresses that the Resistance and the Liberation Forces succeeded in going through vital security checkpoints of the occupation forces, especially when we know the highly sophisticated security entrenchments inside this vital US base, the second largest one after the US base at Saddam International Airport. They added that the operation will have a significant effects and negative repercussions throughout the American Administration policies in Iraq and the future of their plans for the alleged elections and beyond. On the other hand, the Washington Post described the event as one of the most serious attack on the American forces in Iraq, adding that the key difference between yesterday’s event and other incidents is that the recent attack was aimed at an American military base, more than being targeted at our soldiers in unprotected aircrafts- indicating to the incident where 2 helicopters collided with one another killing 17 US soldiers from the 101- Airborne Division- which reflects perseverance and the increasing advance in the resistance’s tactics. Military experts say that these tactics are based on a meticulous intelligence network. Some officers who were previously sighed up in Iraq, expressed their concern that Mosul’s attack may initiate the beginning of an intense violence just before the alleged elections on January the 30th 2005. Meanwhile, Jeffery White, an ex-military analyst said that what really concerns him is the resistance’s next step and the fear of breaking through the camps and military bases by the resistance’s armed men to carry out their attacks. According to the Washington Post’s comments, White said “if the cycle of violence against the Americans intensifies, the pressure on president Bush will mount, by either increasing the volume of the American military presence in Iraq or find an urgent alternative to pull out from Iraq” indicating that it will probably take 10 years from now to crush the resistance. The New York Times indicated that after 21 months since the American invasion of Iraq, the situation is far from being clear, as the American forces are still and almost solely engaged in the fight against the growing resistance movement, and no signs on the horizon of anything indicating the achievement of a decisive victory for these forces in the near future. The New York Times added “Washington has no real and reliable partner in the region except the UK, and has no Iraqi military support that can rely upon”. The newspaper went on to say “How can the American forces- supported by almost 120 thousand Iraqi soldiers belong to the police forces and the national guard- provide security to the Iraqi voters who will go to the polls on January the 30th 2005, at the time when the American forces can not even ensure safety and security for themselves inside their bases”.
Mosul’s Attacks Proofs the Superiority of the Resistance Intelligence:
The “USA Today” newspaper said on Thursday that the attack which was characterized by bravery and carried out by the Iraqi resistance aimed at the heart of a heavily guarded American military base in Mosul, not only exceeds the fact of serious security failure within the American occupation forces, but it sends clear message that the Iraqi resistance have better intelligence capacities than their American counterpart. The newspaper reported that Andrew Kribinivich, a military analyst at the Strategic Analyses Center said “the message which was sent through the attack on the American base in Mosul, was intended for the Iraqi people themselves to the effect that: if the American forces are unable to protect their soldiers, then how can they possibly protect you! the people of Iraq!!”. Kribinivich added “the conflict- to a considerable extent- became a war of intelligence, and it seems that the militants unveil their highly increasing progress in this field”. The newspaper raised a number of questions still puzzling the Pentagon: How did the Iraqi resistance know that 3 high-ranked Iraqis in charge of the elections would go at the end of last week to a place near Baghdad where they were dragged from their car and got killed in daylight? How can the Iraqi resistance possibly have the capability of infiltrating through the heavily guarded Green District, the heart of the diplomatic and political operations in central Baghdad? The newspaper proceeded to the statements made by the US Defense Secretary Donald Ramsfeld saying “what happened in Mosul is very complicated situation, and we realize that our enemies diversify their tactics and resort to certain activities that would terrify the Iraqis in an attempt to prevent them from providing us with any intelligence information”. While the Defense Secretary and the Joint Chief of Staff see that the military operation currently going on in Fallujah is a prototype example applied in more than one Iraqi city, military strategists stress the risk of dispatching more Us forces to Iraq, specially that such decision- if taken- will deepen the feeling of many Iraqis that the occupation will remain in Iraq for many years. Following Mosul’s operations in which many American soldiers were killed, Richard Meyers, the Commander in Chief of the American Joint Chief of Staff stressed that the top priority now is the protection of the American forces throughout Iraq. However, Kribinivich warns by saying: strengthening the security measures of the American forces also has negative impacts, because it means increasing the cost of security, and we should have fewer number of our soldiers to fight the militants. On his part, Patrick Lang, an ex-officer in the American Intelligence and an expert in the Iraqi affairs, indicated that the armored Humvees and the canteen entrenched by iron and steel- which did not prevent the horrific attack of Mosul- are merely a wall been erected in an effort to prevent the AIDS virus from spreading through the bodies, and that’s absolutely impossible. “End of Summary” |
