Islamic Army spokesman: US, Iran behind many car bombings in Iraq.

In a dispatch posted at 10:39am Baghdad time Wednesday morning, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that the Resistance organization the Islamic Army in Iraq issued a statement on Tuesday saying that the US and Iran are behind many of the car bombs that have been killing thousands of Iraqi civilians.  The Islamic Army said that there was no connection between many of those attacks and the al-Qaidah organization.

AMSI reported a spokesman for the Islamic Army, Ibrahim ash-Shamari, as telling al-Jazeera.net that his organization has received no support from any Arab or Islamic capital.  Foreign support, he said, is what comes from Iran and goes to the sectarian militias that are trying to defeat the Iraqi Resistance.

Ash-Shamari said that the Islamic Army does not reject talks with the US occupation forces in principle, but stipulates that the American Congress must pass a law requiring a full withdrawal of US forces from Iraq and recognizing the Iraqi Resistance as the sole, legal representative of the Iraqi people.

On Americas latest New Security Plan that it has been imposing in the country for over a month, ash-Shamari said tat the American plans come one on top of another and every time the Resistance puts an end to them.

Ash-Shamari said that the Islamic Army does not target Iraqi professionals, in particular journalists if they stick to their profession and do not use it as a cover for service to the occupation.  He said that in the past his organization had killed an Italian journalist only after it was proven to us that he was a stooge of the occupation.  But even after that, and after the legal sentence [of death] had been passed on him, but before it was carried out, we asked the Italian government to withdraw their forces from Iraq in return for giving him amnesty and setting him free.  But [the Italian government] refused.

AMSI reported a source in the Babil Province electricity administration as saying that the reason for the outage in the area is the presence of defects in the whole Iraqi national power system and the lack of capacity in the system.  As a result, electricity production in al-Musayyib, 70km south of Baghdad, was transferred to regions to the south, leaving Babil Province with reduced electricity.

In a dispatch posted at 3:01pm Baghdad time Wednesday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that a source in the puppet Ministry of Electricity has said that the electric system had been completely brought down in the southern and central regions of the country on Tuesday largely as a result of powerful dust storms.  The storms separated cables carrying 400kv of power, shutting down the system in the central and southern regions, the puppet official stated.  AMSI reported the official as saying that technicians worked hard to get power restored.
