In a dispatch posted at 8:33pm Baghdad time Thursday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported a puppet security source as saying that men armed with shoulder-launched rockets attacked an American patrol in the ar-Risalah neighborhood of Baghdad on Wednesday night.

AMSI said the source disclosed that two US Humvees that were part of the patrol were disabled in the attack.  US forces imposed a security cordon around the area making it impossible to obtain information on the nature or extent of casualties.

AMSI reported eyewitnesses as saying that the Americans closed all the exits from the two districts on Wednesday night following an attack in which the Iraqi Resistance fired three rockets from Raghibah Khatun.

The witnesses said that the Americans, accompanied by their puppet army allies were still in the two districts at the time of reporting, searching houses in al-Azamiyah an ostensible search for armed men.

The Americans also shot at one local man because he crossed a street in the Raghibah Khatun area.  The man sustained injuries to his hand.

In a dispatch posted at 2:13pm Makkah time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the US military admitted on Thursday that four of its troops had been killed in two Resistance attacks.

Reuters, as monitored by Mafkarat al-Islam, reported that the American announcement said that the four died in explosions of bombs that had been planted by the side of roads.  One of the bombs went off inside Baghdad; the other in the environs of the city.

Resistance bomb wounds puppet police in Baghdad.

In a dispatch posted at 2:02pm Makkah time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that two puppet policemen were wounded in the az-Zafaraniyah area of southern Baghdad when an Iraqi Resistance bomb that had been planted by the side of a road there went off by a puppet police patrol.

Other bombings and mortar attacks took place in various neighborhoods of Baghdad on Thursday as US forces continued their drive to impose their so-called New Security Plan for the Iraqi capital that they occupied nearly four years ago.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that two bombs went off in quick succession by the side of a road in northern Baghdad, killing two persons and wounding two more.  The first bomb exploded shortly after a US patrol had driven past the area, a puppet police source announced.

The puppet police announced that three civilians were wounded when a mortar shell blasted into their home in the ash-Shurtah neighborhood of southwestern Baghdad.  In a separate announcement, the puppet police disclosed that they had found the bodies of 10 more murder victims in various parts of Baghdad on Wednesday.

Massive bomb targets Sunni TV station in Baghdad, killing, wounding 13.

In a dispatch posted at 4:36pm Baghdad time Thursday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that an explosives-laden garbage truck blew up at the entrance to the Baghdad TV station in the occupied Iraqi capital around midday Thursday.

AMSI reported the source as saying that there were in fact two vehicles involved in the attack.  The lead car was full of armed men who sprayed gunfire at the TV stations guards in order to open the way before the second, bomb-packed truck.  The initial attack sparked a five-minute gun battle as the TV stations guards tried to resist the attackers.

Then, the witness went on, after the gunmen drove off, the garbage truck packed with high-explosive blasted into the area, setting off an earth-shaking explosion.  Nothing was left of the building in which the Baghdad station was housed other than the shell of the building.  The Dar as-Salam Radio station also suffered heavy damage in the attack, the witness reported, and added that the blast was so powerful that it also destroyed the concrete building of a nearby school.

According to the source, one person, the deputy director of the Baghdad TV station, was killed and 12 more employees wounded, four of those in extremely grave condition.  The stations director is among those most severely wounded.

In an earlier dispatch posted at 1:18pm Makkah time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported al-Jazeera satellite TV as saying that a bomb had exploded at the offices of the satellite TV station Baghdad on Thursday.

Mafkarat al-Islam noted that the Baghdad station is regarded as a Sunni TV station that refers to attacks on US forces as Iraqi Resistance operations, whereas the stations closer to the Shii sectarian puppet rulers of Iraq refer to such incidents as terrorist attacks.  Baghdad TV also readily reports attacks carried out by the Americans or by their backers in the Shii sectarian militia and puppet police forces.

Although the Baghdad station operates legally within the rules and regulations imposed by the American occupation regime, its apparent sympathies with the Iraqi Resistance have brought pressure on the station and it has been the target of mortar attacks that in the past have injured several of its employees.  More than five journalists working for the Baghdad TV station have been killed many others arrested.

Bodies of 39 torture, murder victims found in Diyala Province Thursday.

In a dispatch posted at 10:04pm Baghdad time Thursday night, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that puppet police patrols in Diyala Province had found 39 bodies of people who had been murdered dumped in various parts of the province on Thursday.

AMSI reported a puppet police source as saying that one patrol found 20 bodies in the town of Habhab near al-Khalis, 57km north of Baghdad.  The other 19 bodies were found in various locations in the city of Baqubah, 65km northeast of Baghdad.

The source said that the bodies were bound and blindfolded and bore signs of torture.  They were killed by gunshots to the head.  The bodies were taken to the Forensic Medicine Department of Baqubah General Hospital.

Torture is usually a trademark of the Shii sectarian militias and the puppet security services working for the US occupation regime, a large proportion of whose troops are concurrently members of the Shii sectarian gangs.

Babil Province.

Al-Latifiyah.

Resistance brings down US helicopter near al-Latifiyah Thursday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 1:10pm Makkah time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance gunfire damaged an American military helicopter, compelling it to make a forced landing in the al-Latifiyah area, about 40km south of Baghdad.

The American Associated Press, as monitored by Mafkarat al-Islam, reported an official with the puppet Iraqi puppet army, who asked to remain anonymous, as saying that Resistance fighters opened fire on the Black Hawk helicopter when it was hovering over the al-Latifiyah area at 9:30am local time Thursday morning.

The puppet army official said that the American aircraft was forced to land in a remote rural area, which US forces then immediately surrounded.  As a result, the source said, no information on the nature or extent of damage or casualties, if any, was available.  The anonymous source presumed that the Resistance men used some sort of heavy anti-aircraft weapons to bring down the helicopter.

Mafkarat al-Islam reported Reuters as quoting eyewitnesses as saying that heavy gunfire forced the US military helicopter to crash to earth in al-Latifiyah.  One witness said that a helicopter had been flying around the area when the sound of intense gunfire was heard.  I saw the helicopter move to the right and left and then plummet, crashing to earth without an explosion, the witness recounted.

In a dispatch posted at 2:47pm Baghdad time Thursday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported eyewitnesses as saying that the American helicopter appeared to be an Apache attack aircraft.

In a later dispatch, posted at 5:04pm Baghdad time, AMSI reported the US occupation forces as having admitted the downing of the helicopter, saying that nine people had been aboard, including crew and passengers, and that four people were injured in the attack and later evacuated.
