Attack on restaurant said thwarted in ar-Ramadi.
In a
dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 11:54am Friday morning Beijing
time (6:54am Baghdad time), the Xinhua News Agency reported that
Iraqi regime police killed a man who tried to blow himself up at a
popular restaurant in the Zankurah area of eastern ar-Ramadi, 110km west
of Baghdad.
Xinhua reported an official in the
al-Anbar Province police command as saying that members of a police
patrol observed the man, and killed him immediately, before he could
complete his mission by blowing himself up.
The
source said that during the same incident, US troops opened fire
indiscriminately around the area, killing one innocent local resident.
Then a team of specialist sappers disarmed the explosive belt. The
source said that the would-be bomber was not a resident of ar-Ramadi.

Murder spree continues: three more bodies found dumped around Baghdad
Friday.
In a
dispatch posted at 7:25pm Baghdad time Friday night, the Yaqen
News Agency reported that three unidentified bodies of murder victims
had been found dumped around Baghdad on Friday.
Bomb wounds three policemen in Baghdad Friday afternoon.
In a
dispatch posted at 4:52pm Baghdad time Friday afternoon, the Yaqen
News Agency reported that a bomb exploded by an Iraqi regime police
patrol in the al-‘Amil area of western Baghdad on Friday afternoon.
Death toll rises to 54 killed in double bombing in Baghdad’s al-Karradah
district on Thursday evening.
In a
dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 10:41am Friday morning Beijing
time (5:41am Baghdad time), the Xinhua News Agency reported that
the casualty toll in the Thursday evening double bombing in Baghdad’s
al-Karradah district had risen to 54 dead and another 123 wounded.
Xinhua reported a source in the Iraqi
regime police as saying that the explosions were the result of one bomb
going off and one man detonating the explosive belt that he was wearing.
Among the 54 dead were three traffic wardens, one major in the Iraqi
regime army and two women. The 123 wounded people include 20 members of
the Iraqi regime security forces.
The
source said that the initial bomb went off at the entrance to al-‘Attar
Street, a commercial thoroughfare in the Iraqi capital. Then when a
crowd of people and security forces had gathered on the scene, the man
wearing the explosive belt mingled with the onlookers and blew himself
up. It was particularly that bomber’s attack that caused the large
numbers of casualties the police source explained.

Bomb explodes by US Humvee in Tikrit Friday night. Casualties reported.
In a
dispatch posted at 10:40pm Baghdad time Friday night, the Yaqen
News Agency reported that a locally made bomb exploded by a US Humvee
near the an-Nab‘ Restaurant in Tikrit, 180km north of Baghdad on Friday
night.

Bombs damage US Humvee, Bradley armored vehicle in Samarra’.
In a
dispatch posted at 10:45am Baghdad time Friday morning, the Yaqen
News Agency reported that two bombs exploded by patrols of the US
military in the neighborhoods of al-Ma‘mal and al-Haddadah in Samarra’,
120km north of Baghdad.
Yaqen reported Ahmad Sadiq, a local
witness as saying that one of the bombs damaged an American Humvee and
the other damaged a Bradley armored vehicle. Witnesses said that
several American troops were wounded in the attacks, but no specific
casualty figures were available, as US troops closed off the areas to
prevent information on the attacks from leaking out. As of the time of
reporting the Americans had made no announcement regarding the attacks.

Leading members of al-Qa‘idah reported killed in US air raid in Diyala
Province Friday.
In a
dispatch posted at 3:55pm Baghdad time Friday afternoon, the Yaqen
News Agency reported that US forces had killed al-Qa ‘idah’s “Finance
Minister” and “Governor” of Salah ad-Din Province in an air raid on a
town in the vicinity of al-‘Azim, 120km north of Baghdad
Ninwa Province.
Al-Mawsil.
One civilian killed, 14 wounded in double bomb attack in al-Mawsil
Friday.
In a
dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 7:35pm Friday afternoon Beijing
time (2:35pm Baghdad time), the Xinhua News Agency reported that
two bombs had exploded in the city of al-Mawsil, 420km northwest of
Baghdad, on Friday.
Xinhua reported a source in the city
police as saying that initially one bomb went off in front of the home
of a member of the Iraqi regime police force in the an-Nabi Shit
district of the city. Then, after a crowd of local people gathered on
the scene, a second bomb exploded, killing one civilian and wounding 14
more in varying degrees of severity. The wounded people were taken to
hospital for treatment.
Five policemen killed in car bomb attack on police station in al-Mawsil
early Friday.
In a
dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 3:16pm Friday afternoon Beijing
time (10:16am Baghdad time), the Xinhua News Agency reported that
a man drove an explosives-laden vehicle into an Iraqi regime police
station in al-Mawsil, 420km northwest of Baghdad on Friday morning.
In a
dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 5:03pm Friday afternoon Beijing
time, (12:03pm in Baghdad), the Xinhua News Agency reported that
five policemen had been killed and 33 more people wounded in the attack,
most of those also members of the regime’s security forces.
Xinhua reported Brigadier General Khalid
‘Abd as-Sattar, spokesman for Ninwa Province Operations, as saying that
the attack targeted the al-Waqqas police station in the Ras al-Jaddah
area of al-Mawsil early Friday morning. He said that heavy damage was
also inflicted on the police station and several shops and buildings in
the area.
